Bower School-Based Health Center

The Nevada Health Centers Bower School-Based Health Center at Basic Academy offers primary care and preventive health services to children of the Clark County School District.

Originally opened in 2004, the center was founded as a partnership between Nevada State College School of Nursing and Basic High School to address significant unmet health needs of Henderson children. Named in honor of community supporters Dr. Joel Bower and his late wife, Carol, who were long-standing advocates for area school-aged children and their families, the center provides services such as immunizations, emergency care, chronic disease management, sports physicals, and health education.

Located on the campus of Basic Academy for International Studies in Henderson, NV, the Bower School-Based Health Center creates a close connection between healthcare and education in Nevada’s largest metropolitan area. In 2017, Nevada Health Centers assumed operations of the SBHC, renaming it Nevada Health Centers Bower School-Based Health Center at Basic Academy. To date, the center has provided healthcare to more than 10,000 low-income and underserved children in the community who may have otherwise gone untreated.
